Youth Employment Strategy

Urban and off-reserve Aboriginal youth are targeted by such programs under Youth Service Canada and Youth Internship Canada, up to an amount of $11.1 million Youth Employment Strategy.

The Assembly of First Nations has a separate $5.2 million Youth Service Canada program to address the challenges facing youth on reserve. Under these programs, Aboriginal youth are learning important skills necessary for working in Aboriginal and mainstream communities.

To assist in this process, national Aboriginal organizations are receiving intervening funding to identify and help prepare proposals for Aboriginal youth projects.
