The Traditional Native American Tobacco Seed Bank and Education Program(TNAT) at the University of New Mexico (UNM) has three objectives:
- collecting, preserving, growing and distributing the seeds of themanytraditional Native American types of tobacco;
- educatingNativeAmericans about the dangers of tobacco misuse,and;
- providingtraditional tobacco leaves and other sacred plants toNativeAmericansin prisons, youth programs, health groups and otherplaceswhere accessto traditional plants is limited.
