In 1995 NVIT was designated as a Provincial Institute under the British Columbia College and Institute Act, making our programs and courses accredited within the province. After spending years in the downtown core of Merritt, January 2002 marked the long awaited opening of the Eagles Perch campus.
NVITis committed to deliver accredited programs and courses to accommodate working professionals within Aboriginal communities throughout the Province and across Canada. By bringing the NVIT vision, curriculum and instructors to students in communities like Bella Coola, Tachie and Keromeos, enrollment for 2004/2005 increased by thirty percent. Today the Community Education department plays a significant role for Aboriginal communities outside of the Nicola Valley and NVIT.
Todate NVIT has articulated transferability of its programs and courses through the BC transfer system. Today students can attend NVIT and earn credits toward a university degree or complete a Bachelor of Social Work through an affiliation between NVIT and Thompson Rivers University or an Integrated Studies Program: Undergraduate Degree through an affiliation between NVIT and Simon Fraser University.
