Ecotrust Canada provides customized on-site training in GIS and on-going technical support to First Nations and community groups throughout the Province. From initial user needs assessments to advanced training in spatial analysis, Ecotrust works with the user in tailoring a support program which fits with local needs.
The organization also supports their partners with on-going technical support and maintenance contracts.Areas of specialization for training include:
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS), from setup to advanced spatial analysis
- Database development and data management
- Global Positioning Systems (GPS) data collection training (to provincial standards)
- Forest inventory techniques, from field work to GIS applications
- Traditional Use Study (TUS) data collection and TUS data transfer to GIS environments
- Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) workshops
- Community visioning workshops
- Fish and fish habitat inventorying techniques
- Web design and internet applications
